The Town of Mayfield is seeking a caretaker for the Mayfield Union Rural Cemetery for the 2023 season.  Please submit a letter of interest to the Town Clerk or email townhall@mayfieldny.org by April 7th, 2023.

Town Of Mayfield Union Rural Cemetery
Between School Street & Maple Street
2023 Cemetery Maintenance Position:
Primary work: mowing & trimming of grass, repairing sunken graves and pouring new
monument foundations.
Secondary work: only upon approval of the Cemetery Committee repairing cemetery roads,
fallen monuments.
Dates: April 1, 2023–December 1, 2023 Only at the discretion of the Town Board.
Days: Monday-Friday
Hours: Any hours between 9am-3pm, early start time at the approval of the Cemetery
Committee.
*If weather does not permit any mowing/trimming to be done in a given week the work may be
made up the following week, but please inform the Cemetery Committee of such change. In
which case, hours not worked during the previous week shall be documented before being
added to the following week.
*There may be week(s) during the season where dry and mowing is not necessary at that time
please consult the Cemetery Committee as the above secondary maintenance jobs could be
accomplished.
Rate of Pay:
Requirements: Must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
All ground/maintenance or equipment issues should be addressed to Cemetery Board
Members.
Any plot inquiries, lot sales burials, monument concerns, or any other issues pertaining to the
cemetery should be addressed to the Cemetery Office or Cemetery Board.
Gas purchases are to be made at Fuel and Food, 3006 St Hwy 30, Gloversville, NY. Account
name: Town of Mayfield Cemetery.
Lawn mower and trimmer supplies are to be purchased at B&B Equipment, 3279 St Hwy 30,
Gloversville, NY, unless otherwise pre-approved by Cemetery Committee and/or own Board.
Account name: Town of Mayfield, Union Rural Cemetery.
Please note: Any purchases made at B&B Equipment should be pre-approved by the Cemetery
Committee and/or Town Board.
Cement-bagged premix for foundations to be purchased through Miller’s Read Mix, Riceville Rd.
Account Name: Town of Mayfield Union Rural Cemetery.
Miscellaneous tools and supply purchases are to be made at Tanner’s Lumber, 4 N Second
Ave., Broadalbin, NY, unless otherwise wise pre-approved by the Town Board. Account name:
Town of Mayfield, Union Rural Cemetery.
Please note: Any purchases made at Tanner’s should be pre-approved by the Cemetery
Committee and/or Town Board.
Any purchases over $100.00 have to be pre-approved by the Town Board.
You are expected to keep equipment maintained and in good working condition (i.e. check oil
before operating machinery and change filters and oil at beginning of Season
